After installation
- Clean the entire structure completely with Periodi-Clean based on the instructions given below.
- Remove all lime and cement residues as soon as they occur to prevent them from penetrating the surface.
- Protect the paint layer with Maxi-Gloss to avoid any new deposits of dirt, since this seals the pores in the paint layer with a waxy substance that is safe to use on paint.
Periodic maintenance
- Periodic maintenance refers to intermediate cleaning. This mostly includes the cleaning of the glass sections and, for example, wiping off the window profiles with the chamois cloth which still contains soap residues. However, it is also important that this type of cleaning is followed up by rinsing with clean, cold water to remove cleaning agent residues. Under the influence of UV/IR radiation from the sun, residues of cleaning agents and recurring contamination (dust, rain, etc.) can lead to irreparable damage on the painted surfaces, resulting in a loss of aesthetic value. Recommended cleaning product: Periodi-Clean.
Annual maintenance
- Annual maintenance consists of a more thorough cleaning than that during the periodic maintenance. The goal is to remove all the dirt that has been deposited during the year. Recommended cleaning product: Periodi-Clean.
- After the annual maintenance has been carried out, it is advised to protect the paint layer with Maxi-Gloss. This will also protect the layer of paint against new deposits of dirt.
- Depending on the surrounding environment, the frequency of the annual maintenance may need to be increased (rural, near industrial areas, coastal area, urban area, ...).
DOs
- Clean with clear, cold water, possibly with the addition of a neutral cleaning agent (PH7), using a soft sponge, a microfibre cloth or a soft non-scratching brush.
- Removal of greasy, oil or soot-like substances should only be done with an aromatics-free dry-cleaning naphta or with Isopropylalkohol (IPA). Remnants of adhesives, silicone sealant or adhesive tape can also be removed using these products. If required, stubborn residues can removed mechanically with a soft white pencil eraser. Aliplast recommends Periodi-clean and Maxi-Gloss as the basic maintenance products.
- The temperature of the cleaning agents and that of the surface to be cleaned should never be more than 25°C. When cleaning with neutral cleaning agents, rinsing afterwards with clean, cold water is necessary so that no cleaning agent residues are left behind on the surface.
- Depending on the ambient factors, painted surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned at least once a year. However, it is recommended that a thorough cleaning be carried out at least twice a year (e.g. in spring and autumn).
DON’Ts
- No solvents that contain esters, ketones, polyhydric alcohols, glycol ethers or halogenated hydrocarbons and the like.
- Do not use any strongly acidic or alkaline cleaning agents (e.g. all-purpose cleaners, degreasers, ...). No rough or abrasive products.
- No cleaning agents with an unknown composition.
- The cleaning should not be done under a full sun. It is advised to do this on a cloudy or rainy day. Steam cleaners as well as high-pressure cleaners with dirt blasters are not allowed.
Additional instructions for textured paints
1. Rinse the surface with cold running water to remove any loose dirt, sand and dust.
2. Thoroughly soap the surface with a light soap solution using a sponge, microfibre cloth or a soft brush and leave this on for a while. However, cleaning agents should not be left on for more than one hour.
3. Rinse thoroughly with clean, cold water. A high-pressure cleaner may be used at a minimum distance of 1 metre from the surface. Do not use a dirt blaster or steam cleaner.
4. After rinsing, dry the surface with a clean (free from cleaning agents) lint-free cloth or chamois cloth.
5. Protect the surface with
Maxi-Gloss, since this seals the pores of the textured paint with a waxy substance that is safe to use on paint.
6. In case of heavy dirt deposits, repeat the procedure after 24 hours.
