An impressive feat of industrial construction by Orca and Rotom Tomatoes!

The building has a very playful look due to the dynamic roof consisting of several smaller pointed roofs. Aliplast partner Alupro used the MC GLASS system because these profiles were specifically developed for large spans with heavy glass surfaces while maintaining a slender appearance. Architectural firm Wilma Wastieau chose the version with a silicone joint distribution where the joint is limited to 25 millimetres. The choice of this system was therefore quickly made.

The difficulty of this project lay mainly in the clamping of the glass sheets, as there were many variable corner joints. Custom-made clamping pieces were developed for this purpose. As hardly any surface in this curtain wall was the same size, this involved a lot of drawing and engineering work.

The MC GLASS system is a popular application in today's building landscape. The subtle silicone joints turn large glass façades into real eye-catchers. Moreover, the aluminium joinery inside received additional attention. For this, Alupro cut the aluminium profiles to fit perfectly on the corner posts of the sloping roof.
